However, the Personas cannot be of a higher Level than his own, otherwise he cannot use them.Īlthough the Persona's stats, levels, affinities and skills reflect the protagonist's power in battle, the HP and SP are stats of the protagonist, and cannot be changed by swapping Personas. One more way to receive new Personas is by fusing two or more to receive a new one. This method only applies to normal encounters, as bosses cannot be negotiated with. If he responds to the correct answers to remarks from the respective Shadow, they will join the protagonist as their Persona. The main way the protagonist can obtain Personas is through negotiation against Shadows. Switching isn't locked unless his turn is executed. In combat, he can only change Personas once per turn, so additional actions from One Mores and Baton Passes won't allow for additional swapping, but he can make use of those to switch once mid-turn. For a list of all available Personas the protagonist can use, see List of Persona 5 Personas. This lets him swap out between multiple different strategies, as well as switch his elemental affinities. The protagonist has the special property of being a Wild Card, making him able to summon and switch between different Personas in battle, as well as change his stock of Personas to an extent. Unlike other party members, the protagonist can never be swapped out of battle, and having him faint will result in an automatic Game Over.
